Explore our oceans

There’s more life in our oceans than we can ever imagine. Nature conservation is close to our heart.

Our Gansbaai ocean is the natural habitat of the Marine Big 5 (whales, dolphins, seals, penguins and sharks). Join a cruise from Kleinbaai harbour to see the Marine Big Five or go shark cage diving to see sharks and occasionally stingrays.

Gansbaai is also home to the African Penguin and Seabird Sanctuary, a Dyer Island Conservation Trust initiative, which is a custom-designed marine bird rehabilitation centre. They provide temporary care to diseased, displaced, injured, oiled and abandoned marine birds with special focus on the endangered African penguin. They are open daily to view the penguins and other birds in rehabilitation with daily feeding times. They also have a coffee and gift shop.
