Lomond is blessed to have 18 different soil types on farm. Our estate Sauvignon blanc is a blend created using elements from various blocks and various soil types to ensure that the result over-delivers on every aspect.

This cool climate Sauvignon blanc is a true representation of the unique and diverse terroir of Cape Agulhas, the Southernmost Tip of Africa.

Less than 4% of the total hectarage of Sauvignon blanc vines are planted in the Cape Agulhas appellation. In 2024, the Top10 Sauvignon blanc competition had 4 finalists and 2 winners from Cape Agulhas. Over the 4 years prior, there were 8 finalists and 6 winners. In Platter’s 2025, two of the twelve 5 star Sauvignon blancs were from Cape Agulhas – with a similar pattern seen in prior years.

We believe this extraordinary concentration of top performing wines is owing to our unique Cape Agulhas terroir and that the Cape Agulhas appellation has its place among the world’s top Sauvignon blanc regions.
