Farm Update
Welcome to 2026!
As the vineyards wear vibrant green and almost glows with life, energy, and promise, they rise in striking contrast against the surrounding dry landscape that reflects the effects of a dry season leading to the 2026 harvest.
Like any proud parent, your heart lifts when the youngsters thrive and our young vineyards are flourishing beautifully. The team is genuinely excited to see what the first and second harvests from these young blocks will bring. They show real promise, with the potential to produce distinctive grapes that will shape future cool-climate Lomond wines.
Although the outcome of a harvest is never certain until the grapes are safely in the cellar, the current, drier-than-normal season suggests that while yields may be lower than average, the grapes are likely to be healthy and of excellent quality to produce the 2026 vintage.
But before the harvest kicks into full swing, we have two more long-table events on the horizon. These gatherings have become a highlight of the season, and we look forward to hosting you for unforgettable food, wine, and views over the valley.
As we reflect on the past year, we are deeply grateful for your support throughout 2025. Your visits, your shared enthusiasm and support on our conservation efforts, and your love for Lomond wines make everything we do possible.
From all of us at Lomond, we wish you a joyful and prosperous 2026.
Here’s to a year filled with good wine, good memories, and good company.
Cheers,
Geoff

The Geometry of calm – why Fynbos makes us happy
Walk through the fynbos above Lomond Wine Estate on a still morning, and you may feel it – that unnamable ease that settles into your body before you have time to notice. The air glows. Edges soften. Your thoughts fall into rhythm with the land. What you are feeling is not mere sentimentality; it is recognition.
Beneath the blooms and branches of the Cape Floristic Region lies a subtle architecture – a logic of form and proportion that governs both the structure of life and the structure of perception. Science now shows that the same geometries that make plants efficient also make people feel at peace.
Until next month – we always welcome your feedback, so please contact us at office@lomond.co.za or 021 388 0095 if you have any questions or queries.
