Farm Update

November at Lomond: New Life & Festive Plans

There’s excitement in the air at Lomond! Our resident spotted eagle owl, Medora, has welcomed a new brood – her eggs have hatched! If you’ve been following us on social media, you’ll know that Medora (whose name beautifully means “mother’s gift” or “ruler” in Latin and Greek origins) and her devoted partner have been working tirelessly to feed their hungry owlets. It’s a wonderful reminder of how vibrant and full of life the farm becomes as summer approaches.

To celebrate the season of abundance

We’re turning the spotlight on our Subscription Offerings.

The Lomond Selection is a collection of our Estate and Single Vineyard wines, while the Cellarmaster box includes some of our personal passion projects and a few rare bottles from our vinoteque that aren’t for sale anywhere else.

For our upcoming November 2025 Cellarmaster Selection, we are excited to present two exclusive Rosés crafted for the very first time at Lomond. This selection also features a collection of vintage Cap Classique, alongside three vintages of our Single Vineyard Cat’s Tail Syrah, offering a unique opportunity to compare, savour, and celebrate the evolution of these exceptional wines.

In general, this selection is a perfect opportunity for wine enthusiasts to experience the diversity in wine styles and profiles our precious vines and cellar can offer.

Speaking of festivities

We’re gearing up for our much-loved Lomond Long Table events, returning from 15 December. Expect good food, great wine, and long, laughter-filled afternoons shared among the fynbos.

Cheers,
Geoff

Lomond Long Table Events

We’re happy to announce the return of our Long Table Events, running throughout the Festive Season and into early 2026, ending with our Annual Blessing of the Harvest celebration.

This summer, enjoy harvest table and wine tasting experiences at our scenic picnic site beside the Lomond Dam, or indulge in our much loved farm-to-table lunches beneath the ancient Milkwood Forest canopy.

Book your tickets early and make Lomond part of your summer tradition – whether you’re joining us for a relaxed festive outing or the welcome of the 2026 harvest.

Conservation –
The White Milkwoods of Lomond

Along the Agulhas Plain, where the wind shapes the dunes and the salt air burns the edges of the land, stand the white milkwoods (Sideroxylon inerme). To most passers-by, they are familiar figures — gnarled trunks, glossy green leaves, broad crowns twisting toward the sea. Yet these trees are far more than coastal scenery. They are survivors of wind and drought, anchors of soil and shade, and living links between natural and cultural heritage.

At Lomond Wine Estate, part of the Walker Bay Fynbos Conservancy, milkwoods form part of a remarkable conservation story. Here, ancient groves persist in sheltered hollows and folds in the mountains – rare, enduring pockets of forest in a fynbos world.

Until next month – we always welcome your feedback, so please contact us at office@lomond.co.za or 021 388 0095 if you have any questions or queries.

Follow us on social media for news from the farm and exclusive loyalty offers @lomondwine or simply join the Lomond Cellar Club to take advantage of discounted pricing and learn about releases of our new vintages.

Look out for your next update in December.

Cheers,
The Lomond Team
