Farm Update

A Season of Firsts and Final Touches

As we step into April, the farm is buzzing with a mix of reflection and excitement. This past month marked a significant milestone with the maiden harvest of our Chenin Blanc, grown in what is officially the southernmost block of Chenin Blanc in Africa. It’s an incredible moment for us, and we can’t wait to share the results with you in the future.

We also had the pleasure of hosting the 10th annual Agulhas Wine Triangle Harvest Festival, which was a fantastic celebration of our region’s wines, community, and shared passion for winemaking. Thank you to everyone who joined us – your support makes these events truly special!

On the vineyard front, we’re now in the final stretch of harvest. The white grapes are safely in the cellar, and we’re wrapping up the last of the reds. Each vintage tells a story, and 2025 is shaping up to be one to remember.

Beyond the vines, our commitment to conservation continues as we work on clearing alien plant species from the farm. Protecting and restoring our natural environment is an ongoing journey, and we’re proud to be part of a region that values both sustainability and exceptional winemaking.

As Easter approaches, we look forward to welcoming visitors to the farm for a taste of the season. We are hosting a series of Long Table Events and would love to see you there.

Whether you’re enjoying a glass of Lomond wine with loved ones or exploring the beauty of the Cape Agulhas region, we hope this time brings joy and celebration.

Here’s to the changing seasons and the promise of a remarkable vintage ahead.

Cheers,

Geoff

Discover our Candelabra Cabernet Sauvignon

This limited release wine was made by the larger than life Niels Verburg of Luddite fame.

The making of cool climate Cabernet is an art form, which Niels has perfected.

This Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard is an exceptionally low yielding vineyard, 4t per hectare resulting in concentration and quality of fruit.

The vineyards of Lomond are surrounded by indigenous flora known as Fynbos. This single vineyard wine is named after a vulnerable listed species endemic to the Agulhas region, Brunsvigia Orientalis or the Red Candelabra Flower.

Conservation – Brunsvigia Orientalis
Common Name Candelabra Flower

If you’ve ever been lucky enough to visit the sandy coastal regions of South Africa, you may have come across a truly remarkable plant – the Brunsvigia orientalis. Commonly known as the “candelabra flower,” this stunning species has some fascinating characteristics that make it a standout in the plant kingdom.
